Announcements
The West Haven Mental Health clinic is continuing to offer child and young adult programs (the adult program will no longer be offered). The clinic will still take referrals for children ages 3-17 and young adults ages 18-25. Adults will now be referred to Bridges, CS-Hill Health Center, the Shoreline Wellness Center and Connecticut Mental Health Center. Anyone with questions can call 203-974-5950.
The school district's free cell phone app has a new Special Education category for app alerts. To download the app, search West Haven Public Schools in your mobile device's app store. Click the gear in the upper right-hand corner and click "Special Education" to receive alerts in that category. They will include special education-related reminders, events and other information.
Child Find
In accordance with Part B of the IDEA, as well as applicable state statutes and regulations, West Haven Public Schools actively seeks to locate, identify, and refer children from birth to age 22 who require special education and related services in order to assist them and their families regardless of the severity of the disability.
The District’s Child Find responsibilities apply to all children who reside within the District, including children who are educated at home, homeless children, children who are wards of the state, and children attending private schools. This responsibility includes cooperating and collaborating with other agencies to identify children with disabilities.
