The West Haven High School football team competed in the CIAC Class LL State Championship Game on Saturday, December 9th against Staples at Central Connecticut State University. It marked West Haven’s first championship appearance in 20 years, as the community came out in full support by filling the stands at Arute Field.

After scoring a touchdown with 1:15 remaining in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to one, the Blue Devils opted to go for a two-point conversion and came up short as they fell to Staples in a thriller, 21-20.
Despite the loss, the West Haven High School football team had an incredible season and finished the year with a 10-3 record.
