On Friday, March 1st, West Haven Public Schools celebrated ‘Read Across America Day’ as our schools celebrated with different activities, including many guest readers throughout the district.
Among the guest readers to visit our schools were West Haven Mayor Dorinda Borer, State Senator and AFT-CT President Jan Hochadel, WTNH Meteorologist Ashley Baylor, WWE Studio Engineer Mr. King, New Haven Register reporter Brian Zahn, Fire Marshall Roger Sicotte, and many more. Additionally, the Southern Connecticut State University cheerleaders visited Forest Elementary School and brought the Owls’ mascot with them, much to the delight of the kids.
There were several guest readers from within the district as well, including Superintendent Neil Cavallaro and Assistant Superintendent Judy Drenzek, as well as Board of Education Members Kim Kenny, Bob Guthrie, Patricia Libero, Rosa Richardson, Heather Shea, and Morgan Watts.
