Over the last few months, librarians from the West Haven Public Library Children’s Department visited the Forest Elementary School library as guest readers to Mrs. Dandelske’s Kindergarten through 2nd grade library classes! Each visit included a craft in addition to sharing with the students all the fun and free resources the public library has to offer.
During this partnership, they signed up 169 Forest students for library cards, for families that returned the library card applications to school!
The librarians said they have seen many new faces and had a significant increase in visitors to the children’s library area over school vacations. They look forward to seeing students over the summer as well!
The children’s librarians who participated in the visits were Carrie Bryant, Amy Sullivan, and Amanda Sweeney.
