The WHHS Senior Picnic took place this afternoon at the West Haven Italian American Banquet Hall! Students had a great time eating, playing games, and dancing!
Ahoy, mateys!! 2nd-graders at Washington were pirates for the day! They worked on map skills and developed treasure maps, while math lessons focused on adding their treasures. They also had a "special guest reader" who shared a story on how to become a pirate. Fun was had by all!
Last night was the 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁 in the WHHS Auditorium featuring the Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Band, Concert Band, and more! Congratulations to all on a great performance! 🎷 🎶
4th-grade students at Washington presented their Natural Disaster Projects to the entire school! Students answered questions and gave live demonstrations. Congrats to all these students on a job well done!
First-grade students, and some of their families, got to enjoy the newly renovated Hubbard Park nature trail in West Haven! 🍂 Students were given a list of items to locate and take notes on, and the students were more than happy to share all the things they observed upon their return!
The Carrigan Drama Club performed the musical, "𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽," written by John Jacobson and Mac Huff on May 31st in the Carrigan Auditorium! The show was directed by Anne-Marie LaMotta, Concetta Heath, and Erin Blake. The students perfected their acting, staging, and singing skills throughout the spring, and their hard work paid off as the show was a huge success!
Congratulations to WHHS seniors Kenneth Lewis and Tianna Greene (not pictured) on receiving the Freddy L. Jackson Citizenship Award! The award, a $500 scholarship, is in honor of long-time West Haven resident Freddy L. Jackson who dedicated countless hours of service to his community. Citizenship and leadership qualities are important qualifications for this scholarship.

On Friday, May 20th, the Bailey Middle School 8th-Grade Band competed at the Music in the Park Festival Competition at Westfield State University. There were 23 performing groups from Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York, and Bailey's 8th-Grade Band not only received 1️⃣st place with a rating of Superior, but it also had the highest score in the division to take home the Overall Middle School/Junior High Band title for the first time ever‼️ Congratulations to all of these incredible students on this impressive achievement! 🏆
The 𝗪𝗛𝗛𝗦 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄 🎨 took place last night in the main lobby! Artwork from the Visual Arts department was on display, while students from the Band, Choral, and Theatre departments performed, and light snacks and refreshments were provided by Culinary Art students!

Students in Mrs. Miller's 3rd-grade class were rewarded for reaching their class goals they set in January! The students had to earn 600 dojo points each week for 10 weeks. The prize was building cardboard houses! Congrats to these students on their great work! 👏
Washington held its May 'All-School' event this week, in which students earned a certificate from one of the following categories: 𝘼𝙗𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘽𝙚𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙙, 𝘼𝙬𝙚𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝘼𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚, or 𝘼𝙬𝙚𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝘼𝙘𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙘𝙨! Congrats to these amazing students! 👏
West Haven Fire Marshall Roger Sicotte visited Washington Elementary School to present awards to Linda Poou-Garon (student) and Mrs. Flanagan (Art Teacher) for their participation in the Fire Prevention poster program! Linda’s poster was the top pick from Washington and it's now a finalist in the state portion of the competition! The theme was to create a picture that revolved around their motto “Fire Prevention - Everyone/Everyday”
Kindergarten students in Mrs. Gregoriades' class recently learned about the life cycle of a butterfly! Students loved the experience as they watched them go from caterpillars to releasing them as butterflies! 🦋
Meteorologist Sam Kantrow of WTNH Storm Team 8 visited 3rd and 4th graders at Mackrille this morning to speak to our students about the weather! ☀️
Teachers at Bailey enjoyed playing pickleball on the beautiful brand new courts today after school! 🏓
