  • What factors do we need to consider when planning a regime of personal care for our patients?

  • What are the necessary skills that should be mastered when providing care to our patients?

  • Why do we need to be accurate in the reporting and recording of skills provided?

  • How can our observations improve the quality of care given to our patients?

Big Idea(s):

  • We must maintain the dignity, safety and comfort of our patients in carrying out personal care activities.

  • Personal care skills should be done in a safe and dignified manner, always keeping in mind the Patient’s Bill of Rights.

  • Accuracy in reporting and recording of activities is crucial to the well-being of our patients.

  • Our observations can lead to changes in the care given, thereby resulting in improved conditions for our patients.

  • Students will demonstrate effective skills in recording and reporting client/patient information.

  • Students will demonstrate an awareness of safety in providing patient care.
