Washington hosted its ‘All School’ event on Friday and had a lot to celebrate! 124 students earned pink perfect attendance certificates for January based on when they were printed.; 13 students earned yellow certificates for having perfect attendance from the beginning of the year until the time the certificates were printed;
We celebrated 20 students of the month and 20 Lexia superstars; We were most excited to celebrate over 120 students who earned at least half of their yearly growth on the iReady math test; Fourth grade then shared some great five-finger retelling and some wonderful writing with persuasion letters. They then taught us a new game that helps us build our vocabulary and they will visit the classrooms to teach the game so that we can play it at recess or morning meetings.

Carrigan held its January ‘Caring Cougar’ assemblies today to celebrate all its 5th and 6th-grade caring cougars for the month, along with Lexia and iReady All Stars! There was also a suspenseful Wheel of Perfect Attendance and a very exciting presentation for the Cluster Trophy winner! Congratulations to all our winners for January!
WHHS students Melanie Garcia-Poou, Jennifer Murrillo, and Rachael Memmott are pictured here working with 1st graders at Seth Haley Elementary School! These 3 WHHS students are a part of the High School Teacher Assistant Program, in which high school students go to different elementary schools to work alongside teachers and younger students, to gain experience in what it’s like to be a teacher. Some of the students plan to major in Education.

3rd graders at Pagels Elementary School completed a STEM project today called the Pyramid Cup Challenge, in which students got into teams and were tasked with building the tallest pyramid. Congratulations to the green team on winning with a 67” pyramid in 30 minutes!
Under the direction of Washington’s art teacher, Mrs. Flanagan, Santiago Giron Guerra took first place with his poster design! The annual contest, hosted by the West Haven Fire Department, has students design a poster that shares ways to prevent fires and be safe. The theme is “Fire Prevention, Everyone, Everyday”. Santiago’s poster has now earned him a spot to compete at the state level.
