To celebrate World Kindness Day at Bailey Middle School, the Bettering Bailey students encouraged all members of the Bailey community to Sprinkle a little kindness today and every day! To achieve this, students were asked to decorate paper cookies with acts of kindness they recently performed, while they enjoyed a delicious sugar cookie, courtesy of Bettering Bailey!
Bailey Middle School’s Pantry has been selected by the Store Leadership Team at Stop & Shop to benefit the Community Bag Program. Bailey’s Pantry will receive $1 for every $2.50 reusable Community Bag sold during December 2023 at the Stop & Shop on 40 Elm Street, West Haven. All of the community’s support is greatly appreciated!
Pagels hosted its annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony today! Students read about their Veterans, 4th graders held up the Veteran’s sign, the entire school sang a song, and students lined the sidewalks with American flags!
Washington students met some Veterans to learn about why we honor them on Veteran’s Day! Kindergarten and 2nd grade heard a story from our security guard, Mr. Edwards – 1st grade had a visit from Veteran Mike Kelly – 3rd had a visit from Mr. McGuire – and 4th had a virtual visit from 4th grade teacher Mr. Thomas’s brother, Major Thomas, who is currently stationed in California with the Marines. Thank you to these amazing Veterans for teaching us so much new learning, and all who keep our liberties safe!

Congratulations to Mia Rubirosa, a senior outfielder on the WHHS Girls’ Softball Team, on signing her National Letter of Intent (NLI) to continue her playing career at NCAA Division 1 Quinnipiac University! Mia signed her NLI this morning on National Signing Day in front of her family, teammates, coaches, and WHHS staff.

Bailey Middle School recognizes the bravery, sacrifice, and patriotism of our veterans. Today, some of our NJHS students along with our veteran custodian, Billie-Jo Brown, placed flags in front of Bailey in honor of Veteran's Day! Bailey staff and students would like to express our gratitude for all veteran's service and dedication.
Bailey Middle School celebrated its 200 students who had perfect attendance for the first quarter! Students received certificates and enjoyed eggs, sausage, and New York-style bagels this morning. Bailey will continue to recognize its students this week by having a raffle drawing for students who have been out for two days or less. Furthermore, all students are now eligible for the next event that will be held at the end of the second quarter. It all starts with attendance!

Carrigan Intermediate School recently hosted Family Mystery Night! The theme this year was ‘Scooby Doo You Dare?’ The staff put on a skit, and families went around to different stations looking for clues to solve a crime mystery to determine whodunnit!

Melisa Marguy, Librarian of the West Haven Public Library, has helped enroll over 170 Washington students to get a library card! Yesterday was her first of many visits that allowed students to borrow a book from the BookMobile. Students now have the option of borrowing from our little hallway libraries and the public library to keep fostering the love of reading. Library cards can be used at all the West Haven branches. They offer lots of free programs too! Please check them out at www.westhavenlibrary.org.
Students in Mrs. Poffenberger's Chemistry Honor's classes created The WHHS Human Element periodic table for display in the hallway!
Bettering Bailey - Interact is a club that works to promote positivity in the Bailey community. Today, the club pushed carts full of treats throughout the halls to show their gratitude for the Bailey staff. The trick-or-treat cart led by club members stopped at all classroom and office doors. It was a spooktacular reward for the fabooulous staff at Bailey.
