Huge shoutout to Sadaqah Kelley and Kadidja Morou, two amazing high school students, who were honored by the West Haven Prevention Council (WHPC) on Wednesday during a special luncheon! These outstanding students have been instrumental in getting the WHPC Youth Committee off the ground. From helping with recruitment, and volunteering at events, to identifying projects that WHPC and WHHS could collaborate on, such as the Red Cross Club, Sadaqah and Kadidja have truly made an impact! Thank you both for your dedication and leadership – you're making a difference in our community!
On Wednesday, the EL/ML Department hosted a Multilingual Family Orientation, welcoming 43 new families who speak nine different languages! Families learned about the school schedule, classes, transportation, food services, testing, and more. The event also featured guidance on using PowerSchool and shared resources from the Family Resource Center to support our diverse community. Presentations were offered in Spanish, Arabic, French, Turkish, Vietnamese, Portuguese, and English.
A big thank you to Tim Belcher, Assistant Director of Admissions at Southern Connecticut State University, for speaking with our WHHS students in the Career Center today! His insights and guidance on the college application process are invaluable. Tim also manages all applications for West Haven High School students, and students can apply for free from November 1st to November 15th. Don’t miss this opportunity!
