The Literacy Volunteers of Woodmont donated hundreds of books to the West Haven Public Schools this school year. These books have been greatly appreciated by teachers and students and have found their way into many classroom libraries. The books supplied have been given to students to take home as an effort to create “book-rich” family environments. Research shows that books in the home can contribute to future academic success. Pictured here are students from Savin Rock reading the books! They also wrote Thank You notes to the Literacy Volunteers of Woodmont!

Washington PreK held its graduation this afternoon! Students received their diploma and sang a thank you song to the families.

8th graders at Bailey Middle School just finished reading the novel "The Outsiders" by SE Hinton and celebrated with their annual Greaser Soc Day! Students and teachers dressed up as their favorite characters from the book. STAY GOLD 8th graders! 🌅

Mr. Stefura’s 3rd grade class at Washington was presented with a $100 gift card for submitting the most completed waste audit forms from our recycling demo a few months ago! Ms. Olivia Bissanti presented the gift to the class.

Last night, West Haven High School hosted its 2nd Annual Fine Arts Festival! In addition to all the incredible artwork on display, there were also performances by the Band, Choral, and Theater, with light refreshments from the Culinary Arts program!
Mackrille second graders had some visitors from Bailey NJHS members. The second graders have been working on multiplication, so the Bailey Buddies helped them build Array Cities and played Roll An Array together.
👏 Congratulations to Elizabeth Shea and Devont’e Campbell on winning the Best Dynamic Duo in a Musical Award, and Carmella Ruiz on winning the Dance Molinari Scholarship at the Halo Awards! Overall, the West Haven High School Theatre Workshop was nominated for 20 awards for its productions of Grease and You Can’t Take It With You.
Congratulations to WHHS junior Dana Davis on winning 3rd place ($300) in the Connecticut Foundation for Open Government (CFOG) Statewide Essay Contest!! She responded to topic #3 in the last picture. Dana currently boasts an A+ average in all her classes and is a top student in Mr. Consorte’s (second picture) AP U.S. Government & Politics class!
Washington 1st-graders took a field trip to Hubbard Park yesterday and walked the nature trails while completing a scavenger hunt to look for different items within the park! Students enjoyed their time at the park and learned many new things they were eager to share.
