Cluster C students at Carrigan celebrated the completion of their first reading unit—all about corn—with a day full of corntastic activities on Friday! 🌽📚 From math and science experiments to fun reading exercises, everything centered around corn. The students even enjoyed a friendly game of cornhole! It was a fun and engaging way to wrap up the week and celebrate their learning!

On Thursday, 3rd and 4th-grade students at Washington began their annual fire prevention lessons, where they practiced fire escape techniques using the WHFD smoke trailer. Students learned the importance of the "stay low and go" method for safely exiting during a fire. Families are encouraged to ask their children to explain this concept and to check the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. In the coming weeks, students will also participate in a poster contest to promote fire safety awareness, with more details to follow.

Justin was joined by School Counselor Holly Benedetti and his mom, WHHS Librarian Jill Woychowski, for this special recognition. Meet Sufyan & Tanjib, West Haven High School seniors and robotics team captains. After noticing new members struggle with basics, they started a non-profit to teach younger students foundational robotics skills—preparing them to excel in competitions before reaching high school. With 3 years of experience and top 1% international rankings, they're on a mission to inspire the next generation of engineers. They recently hosted the 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭, partnering with the West Haven Public Library to help 10 kids build and customize their own robots.
